Widick Drive Backup Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 15, 2026
Purpose
Widick Drive Backup is a personal backup application operated by the owner of markwidick.com. It uses the Google Drive API to create local backup copies of the owner’s Google Drive files.
Information accessed
The application requests read-only access to Google Drive files and associated metadata, including filenames, folder structure, file contents, and modification dates.
How information is used
Information is used solely to download and maintain local backup copies and export supported Google Workspace documents into standard file formats.
The application does not modify or delete files in Google Drive.
Storage and sharing
Downloaded files are stored on a privately controlled Windows computer. Google account data is not sold, used for advertising, or intentionally shared with third parties.
The application uses Google’s OAuth authorization system and rclone software to access Google Drive.
Data retention and deletion
Local backups may be retained, including previous versions of files. The owner controls retention and deletion of local copies.
Security
OAuth credentials are maintained in local configuration files. Access to the computer and backup storage is controlled by the owner.
Revoking access
Google Drive authorization can be revoked through the Google Account’s third-party connections settings. Revoking authorization prevents future downloads but does not automatically delete previously downloaded local copies.

Questions about this application or its privacy practices can be directed to the website owner through the contact page at https://markwidick.com/contact/.
